August 19, 2022 – Whittier
Today we drove from Moose Pass to Whittier, where we caught a ferry to Valdez. It was so rainy and foggy that it wasn’t worth taking any pictures. After arriving in Valdez we did some laundry.
August 20, 2022 – Valdez
We took a boat cruise to the toe of the Meares glacier. We passed by the reef that the Exxon Valdez ran aground on in 1989. The glacier was super cool in multiple ways. No rain today but no sun either.
Valdez is the end of the Alaska oil pipeline so there is a massive tank storage facility there.
