June 19, 2023 – Atami

After Parque Nacional El Imposible we went to Parque Nacional Cerro Verde to check out the Santa Ana volcano. I was going to do a hike there but we ran into some sustained wet weather and moved on to the Pacific coast of El Salvador instead. Amazingly I didn’t take a single picture of the volcano or the beautiful lake at its foot, as I was going to do that on the hike, which didn’t happen. Between El Impossible and Cerro Verde, we drove along a picturesque part of the El Salvador Pacific coast on Highway 2. We stopped in a restaurant near Atami for lunch that was right at the edge of a cliff with the ocean waves crashing below.

June 20, 2023 – San Luis La Herradura

After Cerro Verde we had an Airbnb for three nights on the coast but that Airbnb was our first Airbnb fail. A case of misrepresentation between the listing and the actual. There were ants in our bed and the mosquito netting on the windows had giant gaps in it so we were getting too many mosquito bites. Plus the fan in the bedroom was broken making it too hot to sleep. Luckily we brought a portable fan for the tent which saved the night. We complained and they gave us a refund and we left after one night. It was too bad because the location of this Airbnb on the beach was beautiful.

June 21, 2023 – Laguna de Olomega

After our Airbnb fail, we spent a few days in Laguna De Olomega to get our laundry done and chill a bit. Note that we have yet another volcano to keep us company. We took a tour of the lake this morning.

Cheers, Chris
